Mobile phone protest

Read the test "Mobile phone protest" in the "In the Lesson" section on the blog. Who do you agree with: the headteacher or the students? Write about 6-8 sentences. Give convincing arguments and comment on other students' opinions.

  1. From my point of view not using cell phones during the lessons would help teachers to gain student's attention. Also it would help students to focus on the lesson. However, cell phones could be useful if students used them for the right purposes, like searching something new , making projects , etc. Moreover there are emergencies where students need to connect their family. Above all, I'm sure that as phones play such a huge role in our life nowadays and it would be crazy to completely disconnect us from them as they've done in Canada, but on the other hand it's not a bad idea to live without them a few lessons.

  2. I can't agree with teachers and student of this sutiation.I'l be at the midle.Lets discuss some situations in real life.Of course it's bad when student on lesson just sitting on his phone and don't want to learn smth. But if you have a "Test" and you don't have time at home to repeat the material - at this sutiation phone is very usefull. And the most popular situatin - "You are the chidlren who wants to styding without phone help or cheating and he is sitting on the first desk ( don't have chance to use phone )".And he will write his own answers and have the mark "5 or 6" if he forgot some material ( it's unreal to learn everyhing"At this time the "Super Stypid" children who don't want to learn something, he just sitting at the last desk and cheating. And at the end he will have the mark - 8+.I think the problem in our education system not on teachers or phones. P.S I have not read tis topic ( don't have time ) i just write my opinion about phones in student life

  3. Talking about mobile phone protest I will take a students' side. In my opinion it is unfair from teachers to take the mobile phones away. Please, think, there are a lot of questions which require immediate reaction. For example, illness, accident or the worst of all - death. Of course, in each case you'll need a phone badly. Another situation - a pupil wants to look through the dictionary on the phone while reading a text. Of course, if it isn't forbidden. But he can't do this because he hasn't got a dictionary, it is in his phone.
But I totaly agree with teachers when they take phones away when pupils don't listen to a teacher but simply play games on the phone. It's at least impolite.

  4. As a smart guy, I'd like to express my disappointment with retards that use their phones during the lessons. You're stupid, get smarter! Guys and gals that are already smart, however? Just let 'em do whatever!

Re: looking up things - that's a problem. How do you deal with that problem? Collect the phones for 15 minutes. That's not illegal.

Re: getting students' attention - that's not my problem. If your lesson's boring, I'll do whatever. Your job is to teach me stuff, nothing more, nothing less. If you fail at your job, I'll do something more interesting or productive with my time.

  5. Should children use mobile phones on the lessons? Of course some (most of all) teachers will not agree because if the student will be sitting on the phone and it will be annoying the teacher and he has the right to confiscate the mobile phone or put a bad mark. I think it is boorishness and disrespect. But if we go to the teachers side, it is very frustrating when a student is sitting on the phone and not paying any attention, but if a teacher really boring explain the material, on student place I would sit on the phone and read some exciting news, what happening in the world, but on the other hand, we must respect the teachers, because teachers have a small salary. Moreover, with every passing day fewer and fewer people are receiving the profession of teacher and in the future it will be a major problem of the education when our children would be teach young unexperienced specialists. Also phones are good helpers, if you forgot to bring literary book from library, you can easily find the text or summary on the internet. To conclude I believe that mobile phones should not be banned because they are very convenient and you have a chance to write off:) if the teacher does not burn you:) Hehe)

  6. I agree with you, guys, that teachers should make their lessons interesting to distract you from your toys. The problem is that you are all different and it's hard to satisfy everyone's needs. What I can't agree with is that you should respect teachers because they get a low salary. Actually, being a teacher is a challenge today as it is very hard to motivate and surprise you when you have access to various sourses of information.

  7. People have different views on mobile phones. In my opinion it's very useful to use mobile phones in schools. For example if you need a translator in English or Belarusian lessons you can take your phone and look up a word in the dictionary.
Also, to be honest everybody is cheating.Of course it's bad but sometimes it's very helpful. You should be able to cheat and not everybody can do it.Moreover, students like to communicate on the phone.
In conclusion, I want to say it's not reasonable to have "mobile phone protest".

  8. In my point of view we need telephones on the lessons, because we can take some important information from the Internet, just a translation or something like that. But in the other hand some bad students take their phones for cheating or chatting with their friends(ofc. its not about me =). I think it's bad because if you chatting you don't listening your teacher and become dumber.
I'll be in the middle of this situation. I can understand  teacher as well I can't disagree with the students. Sometimes we (students) need phones but not often. First of all we must listen our teachers and secondary sitting in the phones.

  9. Mobile phone protest is something that shouldn't be practised at schools. It's the 21st century, we shouldn't live like we're in the 80s! There are freaking lots of functions that help us in the lessons — some sorts of helping ('cheating' like teachers call them) sources, translators and other things that help us in becoming smarter and being the pride of our school. So 'mobile phone protest' is such a NONSENSE. Thanks, I'm out.

    1. Actually, accoriding to the article this mobile phone protest is the protest that the students orgainsed against mobile phones ban in their school. So, you support their point of view.

  10. In my opinion, smartphones are very helpful for students. Of course, some unkind students are using it for cheating, but usually it can be seen from side, so it's not a problem I think. And also you can find and store there a lot of useful information wich with no doubt will be helpful on lessons. So, in my opinion smartphones mustn't be banned at schools.

  11. I think sometimes phones are necessary. For example when your mom or dad want to say to you some important thing. Also I Think on some lessons you need to find the answer or translate words on English lessons. In my opinion phones shouldn't be used at the lessons for cheating or chatting with friends. But on the other hand smartphones help us to prepare some extra information. So I think that children need to realize that phones aren't necessary at school.

  13. Mobile phones play really important role in our life nowadays. Teenagers are using them all the time. It is understandable why teachers want to forbid them using phones at school somehow. But anyway teachers have no rights not to let children have phones with them in classrooms, because phones belong to them, so only they can decide where to put or keep it. And of course teachers are not able to block the pone's signal somehow. A lot of emergency things can happen to students' parents or friends. That's why I think everyone should be able to answer the phone call or at least to see and read the message anytime.

    1. I can't agree with you on some point. You say a phone belongs to a student. If a student brings a knife, for example, which is their belonging, should we take any actions?

  14. Hmm...I think that mobile phone isn't dangerous for other teachers and students in school like knife as you saying, also mobile phone is not illegal,so if students bring they phones than i think that nobody has rights to touch they belongings. But if we are talking about bringing knives to school than off course they need to be banned and i know that any teenager has no rights to bring steel arms anywhere.

  15. It is difficult for me to agree only with the head teacher or only with the students. I think that we need to understand this question in detail. Therefore, I will talk about my situation as a student and as a head teacher.
Student: I'm for mobile phones. They help us in any situation. Also, without them, boring lessons would be even more boring.
Headteacher: I'm against mobile phones. They interrupt the learning process. So that they help the students to write off different works.
Based on this material, I think that we need some measures. For the first time they should not be hard: you need to restrict students' access to telephones, but do not do it as it was in Canada.
